Shopping in Cannes
Monday, August 31st, 2009Charles was going away on business for a couple of weeks so I needed to plan a few things while he was away so that I was kept well occupied.
A good friend of mine has a villa in Cannes and he said I could stay there for a long weekend so that I could do a spot of shopping. The shops in Cannes are fabulous. There are shops such as Roberto Cavalli, Christian Dior, D&G to name a few and some really great shoe shops.
Charles hates shopping so I thought It would be an ideal opportunity for me to get away and be totally occupied by all those lovely shops.
I arrived in Cannes after a short plane journey and was welcomed by Phillippe and his wife who gave me the keys to their villa for the weekend. We met at the airport as they were going back to the UK for a few weeks.
I got a cab to the villa and went to bed early that night so that I was fully rested and ready to hit the shops the next day.
The next morning, I woke up, showered and dressed and went straight out as I wanted to get a full days worth of shopping in. I wore a loose fitting Roberto Cavalli dress and wedges and was armed with Charles’ credit cards.
It was a glorious day and it was nice to be alone, no Charles saying ‘haven’t you done enough shopping yet?!’ and really trying to rush me.
The first shop I went into was a little French boutique which sold sexy lacy lingerie and nightwear. I tried on a few things but nothing was quite right. I then went into one of my favourite shops which is Christian Dior. I tried on a great selection of clothes which included all the latest fashions. I bought myself, or rather Charles bought me a gorgeous black and white shift dress and a very sexy skirt suit for Autumn and a pair of black patent court shoes, oh and a gorgeous blouse which has loads of french lace on it.
After spending thousands of pounds, I decided to take a little break. My feet hurt after all the walking and I was also a bit hungry. I stopped for a short while and had some grilled fish and a glass of Sancerre for lunch.
After I’d refreshed myself, I picked up my bags and went on to do a little more shopping, or some might say, a lot of shopping! I bought a further 3 pairs of shoes from Jimmy Choo, and I bought a few things in Stella McCartney.
There was no way I could walk around the shops any longer with all these bags so I called a cab and dropped off my shopping at the villa and returned to the shopping area to continue shopping.
I bought a few summery tops from some French boutiques and I also bought a new handbag. It was a Prada bag and I’m not going to say how much it cost because if Charles ever reads this, I am not so sure he’ll trust me shopping alone again!
I made sure that I used all of his credit cards so that he doesn’t see one massive bill at the end of the month! Very sneaky I know. The last shop I went into was D&G and in there I bought some fantastic corsets and a little black dress which is boned and is also corsetted and looks a bit like the style of Jean-Paul Gaultier.
It was closing time now for most of the designer shops, so I decided to call it a day. I was running out of space on my arms for bags anyway. There was always tomorrow to continue on my spree!
I called a cab, arrived home, laid out all my fabulous new things and poured out a huge glass of wine. I spent the rest of the afternoon re-trying on my new purchases. I must say I look great in them all and can’t wait to wear them.
The only dilemma I have now is, how many suitcases will I have to buy to get them all home!?!!?
